American Express Supports Hurricane Florence Relief Efforts

In response to the devastation caused by Hurricane Florence, American Express Company (NYSE: AXP) today announced ways it is helping communities affected by the natural disaster.

American Express is committing a total of $200,000 to the American Red Cross to assist with the immediate needs, including shelter and food, of hurricane victims in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. It will also match employee contributions to various relief organizations.

The Company is also providing a rebate of the applicable merchant discount rate to the national offices of the U.S. arms of the American Red Cross, Save the Children, AmeriCares and the United Way for charitable contributions for Hurricane Florence relief that Card Members make directly to the organizations using their American Express Card. The rebate, which will be given to the charities listed above, will apply to donations made to these organizations from September 14 to November 15, 2018.
