American Express has been included in the 2023 Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index (GEI) for the 8th year in a row. The Index tracks the performance of public companies committed to disclosing their efforts to support gender equality through policy development, representation and transparency.

“Our continued inclusion in the Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index affirms our ongoing commitment to supporting our women colleagues and backing their ambitions,” said Denise Pickett, President Global Services Group and Executive Sponsor of the company’s Global Women’s Interest Network (WIN). “It’s great to see the investments we’ve made to ensure women are engaged, retained and have opportunities to thrive both professionally and personally at Amex.”

As shared in the company’s recent DE&I report, 53% of American Express’ global workforce are women; 29% of the Board are women, and 53% of the company’s Executive Committee are women or from diverse races and ethnic backgrounds.

The company continues to make strides to help create equal opportunities for all of its colleagues through initiatives including:

It three designations – hybrid, onsite, and fully virtual – with hybrid offering the most variety to accommodate business and colleague needs.
  • DE&I Action Plan: The company exceeded its initial goal of spending $1 billion toward its DE&I Action Plan ahead of schedule and plans to spend an additional $3 billion through the end of 2025. These investments have included achieving and maintating pay equity for colleagues across genders globally and increasing spending with underrepresented-owned suppliers
  • A range of learning and development programs to help diverse groups of women advance their careers as they explore important leadership skills and build strong networks.
  • Backing colleagues and their loved ones with benefits and programs that support their holistic well-being including up to 20+ weeks parental leave for all parents in the U.S (regardless of gender).
  • Continuing to move the Ambition Project forward, in partnership with the Women’s Interest Network (WIN), with the goal of inspiring women colleagues to confidently pursue their ambitions and pay it forward.
