American Express has been ranked No. 1 on this year’s list of Fortune’s Best Workplaces in New York™ by Great Place to Work® and Fortune magazine. The list highlights the best companies to work for headquartered in New York. Amex is proud to have made the list for the last seven years, and the second time landing in the top spot. This recognition also follows American Express’ recent No. 3 ranking on the 2023 100 Best Companies to Work For list.
The highly competitive Best Workplaces in New York list is based on more than 170,000 survey responses from employees at eligible companies who shared honest feedback about the employee experience.
A sample of colleagues at the company say, “We have great people that are talented, driven, highly competent, and truly care for our customers and each other. We have a healthy paid time off allocation each year that really enables work-life balance and mental health. We have very clear objectives, and we all know how we contribute against those, giving us a sense of pride and commitment to keep going and driving results every day.”
“Like all our locations around the world, New York inspires our colleagues to lead with creativity, innovation, and a global perspective that shapes our growth mindset for our customers and the communities we serve,” said American Express Chief Colleague Experience Officer Monique Herena. “We’re proud to offer all of our colleagues many opportunities to grow throughout their career, a flexible culture with a strong sense of belonging, and competitive pay and benefits to support their holistic wellbeing, encompassing their physical, financial, and mental health.”
American Express has been located in Lower Manhattan since 1850, including 37 years at our current Vesey Street address – with its sweeping views of New York Harbor and the Statue of Liberty. From our very first opportunity to contribute to New York’s commercial development as an express delivery company, to our efforts that have helped the community thrive over the years – from providing financial support to help restore the Statue of Liberty to leading the revitalization of downtown in the aftermath of 9/11 – as well as volunteer programs in New York City public schools and Central Park, we are proud to make positive impacts in the place that holds a special place in our history and where so many of our colleagues work and live.
