American Express Community Guidelines

Last Modified: October, 2020

Welcome! We encourage you to connect with us and join the conversation with our global community of American Express Customers, Fans, and Followers on third-party social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, and Pinterest. We welcome your questions and feedback and ask that you are polite and respectful when interacting in these forums.

Customer Service

We welcome your questions on our social media pages, however, we want to ensure you know that these channels are not secure and because we take your privacy seriously, we may not be able to answer all questions directly on the platform. Also, as we review a large volume of comments, we may not be able to answer your question immediately. That’s why we have a number of secure ways you may get in contact with us. For customer care inquiries specific to your account, please call the number on the back of your Card, chat with us on americanexpress.com or within our mobile app. If you have a Card issue from an American Express Network Partner, please contact your issuer by calling the number on the back of your Card.

Protect Your Personal Information
Remember that your posts to the community will be public and can be seen by anyone. You should not share or post any personal, private or sensitive information that you would not want to make public or generally available. Please protect your privacy and don't share personal information about you, your family, or others on the American Express Facebook page. For example, you should never post your Card number, Social Security Number, phone number, or other non-public personal information about yourself or anyone else. Remember also that your posts are subject to each social media platform’s own privacy and data security practices and policies. Even if you delete a post later, it may have already been viewed by others.

Keep it Relevant

Please keep your comments appropriate, respectful and relevant to the conversation. Off topic posts or comments may be hidden or removed.

Do Not Include Any False Information

Your posts should not contain any false information. Any comments you make should accurately reflect your personal experiences and beliefs. Posts or comments that make false or misleading claims may be hidden or removed.

Spam, Links and Online Safety

Your posts should never contain any unauthorized and/or unsolicited advertising, spam, hyperlinks or content protected by copyright, trademark or other rights. Any posts or comments that do may be hidden or removed.

Be Courteous
Please treat the community and your fellow participants with respect – even if you disagree with a post or comment. Do not post any content or comments that may be inappropriate, offensive, profane, culturally, racially or socially insensitive, disruptive, harassing or defamatory. Any posts or comments of this nature will be removed or hidden.

In order to protect the community from potentially malicious content, we may remove posts or comments containing links to third-party content. For your online safety, we strongly encourage you to avoid opening any third-party links posted unless you trust the source of that post.

Repetitive posts copied and pasted or duplicated by single or multiple users will be deleted.

For privacy reasons please do not publicly identify any specific American Express employee when providing feedback. We may hide or remove posts that contain information that could lead to an employee being identified, including direct phone numbers or other personal information.

Community participants are responsible for their comments or posts. The opinions, statements and viewpoints expressed by community participants (including American Express employees/contractors) do not necessarily reflect the opinions of American Express or constitute an official position of American Express. You should rely on these posts at your own risk as American Express is not responsible for, and does not validate any opinions, assertions or forward-looking statements expressed in any user comments. These posts do not constitute legal, financial, tax or other advice. You should seek independent professional advice based on your circumstances.
