American Express Refunds Merchant Discount Fees to Charities Responding to Nepal EarthquakeCompany Also Supports Relief Efforts With Grants
NEW YORK,  April 30, 2015 -- 

In response to the devastation caused by the earthquake in Nepal, American Express today announced that it will rebate the applicable merchant discount rate to the following U.S.-based nonprofit organizations for charitable contributions for earthquake relief that Card Members make directly to the organizations using their American Express® Cards:

The rebate, which will be given directly to the charities listed above, will apply retroactively to donations made to these organizations from April 25, 2015 through May 31, 2015.

Card Members can also use Membership Rewards® points for charitable contributions to these organizations as well as others through the MembersGive website.

In addition, American Express will donate a total of $200,000 to the disaster relief efforts of the American Red Cross, Save the Children, and the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund in India.
