American Express Puts a Wrap on Holiday HeadachesNew Platinum Concierge Gift Buying Service Handles Gift Purchases on Behalf of Cardmembers
NEW YORK,  December 1, 2011 -- 

American Express introduces a new service to help Platinum Card® members avoid crowded stores, long lines, sold out shelves and the stress of last minute shopping this holiday season. Platinum Cardmembers simply submit their shopping lists to the Platinum Card Concierge Gift Buying Service, and the Concierge gifting experts will do the legwork, from researching gift options, to price comparisons to purchasing and shipping. Whether it's a gadget for the kids or special piece of jewelry for a spouse, the Platinum gift experts will help make sure the perfect gift arrives right in time for the holidays.

The Platinum Card Concierge Gift Buying Service is an extension to the Platinum Card Concierge, a benefit available to Platinum Cardmembers year round. From securing concert and sporting event tickets to making dining reservations to planning special experiences, the Concierge is always prepared to assist Cardmembers with their personal tasks, day and night.

"For years, Platinum Cardmembers have been using the Concierge service to help source unique gift ideas, which is why we have created the Concierge Gift Buying Service to focus solely on holiday gifting needs," said Stephen Selwood, Vice President of Premium Card Marketing at American Express. "With this new service, Cardmembers no longer have to struggle with researching gifts or making sure they will arrive in time for the holidays, and as a result can cross one more item off their 'to do' list during the busy holiday season."

Affluent consumers surveyed in the latest American Express Spending & Saving Tracker expect to spend nearly $1500 on holiday gifts this season, with their most expensive purchase averaging $575. With the average affluent holiday gift lists adding up to 10 people, choosing unique gifts and finding the time to shop can seem daunting.

Available to Platinum Cardmembers, the Platinum Card Concierge Gift Buying Service is available seven days a week, from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. ET by calling 1-800-525-3355, say Concierge. Purchases made by the Platinum Card Concierge Gift Buying Service will be charged to the Cardmember's Platinum Card. All items sourced must be available for purchase from retailers that accept American Express.
