American Express Joins the NBA in Comprehensive Multiyear Marketing PartnershipMultifaceted Partnership Includes Special Access and Experiences for Cardmembers at Premier NBA, USA Basketball, WNBA, and NBA D-League Events
NEW YORK,  December 20, 2010 -- 

The National Basketball Association (NBA) and American Express today announced a new comprehensive, multiyear marketing partnership that will make the leading global services company an official partner of the NBA, USA Basketball, the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA), and the NBA Development League (NBA D-League).

This new partnership reunites the NBA and American Express, which had a marketing partnership from 1995 to 2005.

As the Official Credit Card Partner of the NBA, American Express will provide Cardmembers with exclusive experiences and access to regular-season and playoff games, and premier NBA events such as NBA All-Star, the NBA Draft, and NBA Games – London 2011, the league's first-ever regular-season games in Europe. As an Official Partner of USA Basketball, American Express will also provide packages to USA Basketball games and events staged in the U.S. and internationally.

American Express will serve as the presenting partner of the NBA All-Star Entertainment Series, which will include musical performances from renowned artists during NBA All-Star 2011 in Los Angeles, and provide Cardmembers with special experiences around WNBA and NBA D-League events. The global services company will also showcase its NBA partnership and offerings to fans through league media platforms, including NBA TV and NBA.com.

American Express will provide Cardmembers with special NBA experiences and ticket access through NBA team relationships. The company will establish an expanded presence with NBA teams to complement its existing relationships with the Boston Celtics, Los Angeles Lakers, New York Knicks, and Washington Wizards.

As part of the partnership, American Express will provide Cardmembers with unique packages for NBA games and events, which will include tickets, access to NBA-themed hospitality events, behind-the-scenes access, and opportunities to meet NBA Legends and players.

As the presenting partner of the NBA All-Star Entertainment Series, American Express will offer Cardmembers behind-the-scenes access to the performances at NBA All-Star, including dedicated viewing areas and access to rehearsals. The series includes performances during the T-Mobile Rookie Challenge & Youth Jam, NBA All-Star Saturday Night presented by State Farm, and the 60th NBA All-Star Game. The artists performing in the NBA All-Star Entertainment Series presented by American Express will be announced at a later date.

Through its global partnership with USA Basketball, American Express will provide Cardmembers with private access to USA Basketball exhibition games leading up to summer 2012. Cardmembers will receive game tickets, access to USA Basketball receptions and chances to meet members of the USA Basketball team and coaching staff.
