Disaster Relief

American Express has a long history of helping people in times of need. Often it's a simple act, like replacing a lost card or helping re-book a travel arrangement. But in times of disaster, the company's World Service network of customer care professionals and travel counselors proactively work to locate and assist stranded or displaced customers and businesses, offering our help to get them through the crisis.

Underscoring our tradition in this area, American Express has incorporated this priority into its philanthropic activities, as evidenced by the funds the company and individual employees have provided to deliver humanitarian relief to victims of numerous disasters -- including wildfires, floods, earthquakes, tsunamis and other natural and man-made disasters. In the last decade American Express has provided assistance for over 50 disasters in 35 countries by aiding leading disaster relief agencies such as the American Red Cross and International Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, Doctors Without Borders, International Rescue Committee, Save the Children and the United Nations World Food Program.
